Heart making session for "Hearts United" Community Art Project

Join us at Under Aurora for an all ages heart-making session for Hearts United (a community art project). Stop in from 12:00-1:00 to make a heart and then take it a few blocks to Bellows End to hang. Click here to RSVP!

A multiitude of art supplies are being provided for us by OSU Urban Arts Space!

From Second Sight Project:
WHAT: Hearts United for One Billion Rising.
An open-participation temporary public artwork. One Billion Rising is a global movement to end violence against girls and women.

WHEN: Saturday, February 13, 2016, 11am - 2pm
With viewing to continue through February 14th.

WHERE: Bellows End, Franklinton
The lot across the street from Second Sight Studio, at 730 Bellows Avenue.

WHY: to bring a temporary community of people together to commemorate “V-Day” and enjoy art in a non-traditional space.

HOW: Any interested participants are invited to create heart-shaped or heart-themed art on cardboard, cloth, plastic, etc, and bring it to the lot at Bellows End to be hung and displayed along the chain-link fences of the schoolyard. Viewers can stroll the fences of hearts and enjoy the art. Refreshments (coffee and donuts) will also be served at the gallery.

DETAILS on creating your hearts:
Make your heart out of cardboard, cloth, plastic or any material that can be hung or wired to the fences and can be easily removed afterwards.

Keep in mind winter winds can be harsh, so try to make sure your art will be secure and not blow away!

No size requirements, but we encourage you to go big! There is plenty of space to fill.

The message of ending violence is important, but please keep the art family-friendly. We want our neighbors to love it too!

Installing your work:
Bring your work to the school yard between 11am and 2pm Saturday February 13. (If you cannot be present the day of the event, you can hang it the night before.) Please be sure to bring along wire, string, scissors, or whatever you will need to hang and attach the art to the fence.

Pick-up of work: Take-down begins at 2pm on Sunday, February 14th. If you would like your artwork back, please return after 2pm Sunday to retrieve it. Anything not picked up will be stored at Second Sight Studio for 7 days and then be discarded.

Note: Try not to bring any art that is too precious to you. While we will do our best to maintain the artwork during the event, weather, theft or vandalism can and sometimes do happen.

Participation is open to everyone, both individuals and groups, but we encourage you to register as a participant by contacting: Mona Gazala at Second Sight Project, mona.gazala@gmail.com, so that we can acknowledge your work!
